I Will Continue To Stand For Truth And Justice, Says Embattled Plateau Speaker

Embattled Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Nuhu Abok, says he will continue to stand for truth, justice and the rights of the Plateau people.

Hon. Abok stated this on Thursday, shortly after eight legislators in the state impeached him as Speaker of the Plateau parliament.

According to the embattled lawmaker, the development has only given him more strength to stand for the people.

“We have been standing for the people of Plateau, we stand for truth, we stand for justice, we stand for the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and we stand for democracy,” the lawmaker stated.

He, however, did not give any detail as regards his next line of action following the impeachment which some have termed “illegal”.

Meanwhile, the new Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly, Yakubu Sanda has assured the House that he will work in synergy with the executive and judiciary for the peace, progress, and development of the state.

Mr Sanda noted that the House will use its full legislative powers to ensure that government programmes and projects impact the people at the grassroots level.

Sanda, who went with principal officers and some members of the House to the Government House on Thursday, assured the executive arm of great collaboration and cooperation in running the affairs of the state.

The new Speaker was received at the Government House by Secretary to the Government of the State, Prof. Danladi Abok Atu, on behalf of the Governor.
